Perilune Syrah explores the variety through the lens of Sta. Rita Hills, where extended growing seasons encourage detail, nuance and freshness. Rather than emphasizing weight, we seek transparency and site expression. Aromas of violets, cracked pepper and dark berry fruit lead to a savory palate layered with olive, smoked herbs, mineral tension and remarkable energy.

Winemaking
Sixty days on the skins and stems. Most exhausted cooperage. We employ solely whole cluster fermentation. We farm with a focus of ripening the stems alongside the fruit, allowing the cluster to be in harmony. Working with the stems allows for wines that are structured, earthy and balanced with our beautiful Santa Barbara County fruit. All of the wines are produced with the intention of aging and cellaring for at least 10 years and can easily be enjoyed after 15 years.
Vineyard
Comprised of a vast array of elevation, aspect and soil profile, Perilune is by far and away the most ambitiously complex of all of our vineyards. From beach sand to botella clay, the rugged terrain and dramatic inclines offer a myriad of opportunities for dynamic fruit expression.
Mindful clonal selection bespoke for each of the forty two unique blocks further amplifies the diversity of this parcel which has swiftly become the predominant core of our wines.
